Purpose and goals:
The Franklin Cultural Council (FCC) distributes funds received from the state of Massachusetts and the National Endowment for the Arts, which are used to support programs in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences. These are funneled through a central state agency, the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), to a network of local cultural councils, which then re-grant the funds to individuals and organizations in their own communities. The FCC has awarded grants to such local activities as Concerts on the Common, LiveARTS, and the Franklin Public Library Summer Reading Program in addition to many other worthwhile programs.
The FCC augments the annual amount received from the MCC with a generous grant from the Town of Franklin.
