The Galway Fish and Game Club was established some 60-odd years ago as a place where the community sportsmen could get together to do a little socializing, sight in their deer rifles, tell hunting and fishing stories, and otherwise have a good time. Over the years, a clubhouse was built, more property was purchased, and several organizations became active within the club. At the present time, there is a pistol team, a smallbore rifle team, a junior rifle team, a trap team, and an archery team. In addition, the club hosts annual Hunter Safety classes.
The clubhouse contains an indoor range, a meeting room, and a modern kitchen. Outdoors there is a covered pavilion as well as a 25, 50, 100, and 200 yard rifle range, a trap range, and a field archery range. There is a large beaver pond in back and about 120 acres of property.
Club meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM. If you’re interested in joining, or just want to look around and meet a few members, come to one of the meetings – they generally last less than an hour – and you can pick up a membership application at the same time.
