On Saturday, August 31st 2024 of Labor Day Weekend, downtown Bennington Vermont will transform into Garlic Town, USA in celebration of all things garlic! Garlic Town brings over 130 vendors to our downtown “cloves” including garlic farmers, craft vendors, food trucks and treats, live bands and entertainment, chef demonstrations, kids activities, sidewalk sales from local merchants and so much more!

This prestigious honor recognizes the outstanding contributions of Garlic Town’s annual celebration to Vermont’s vibrant tourism landscape. Come celebrate nearly 30 years of this garlic-centric tradition in Southern Vermont with us!
Bennington has become world-renowned for its annual garlic event held every year on Labor Day weekend. Our event, formerly known as The Southern Vermont Garlic & Herb Festival, has been recognized as one of the top 10 garlic festivals in the world by Reuters, featured in Yankee Magazine, awarded Vermont’s Time-Honored Top 10 Event, a consecutive voted winner of the Reader’s Choice Best Event in the Region by Vermont News & Media, and now designated a Vermont Signature Event by the VT Department of Tourism.
2023’s event saw over 7,200 visitors and residents stroll around downtown Bennington with garlic and food vendors, sidewalk sales, tractor rides and so much more. An estimated $150,000 was spent by Garlic Town attendees in downtown Bennington in one day according to a post-festival poll put out by the Southwestern VT Chamber of Commerce.
