Grant Middle School opened in September 2004.

The building, which had housed Harding High School since the 1950s, was completely renovated and two wings added which contain the library/media center, new classrooms, and additional cafeteria seating. Air conditioning was also installed.

To help provide a small-school atmosphere within a larger middle school, Grant is organized into four fully equal and balanced learning communities. Each of these "houses" (see above) has approximately 350 sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Each house is comprised of teams blended from the staffs of the three previous middle schools.
