Offering a fiercely competitive Sport Division and widely attended Community Division, Space Coast sees a variety of teams from the south as well as visiting paddlers fresh from spring training camps. Space Coast is a must for established and entry-level teams alike looking to gain competitive experience within the sport-racing format.
Race distances include 200m and 500m events for Sport and Community Division teams, with the addition of the ever-thrilling 2k pursuit for Sport Division teams only.
Festival grounds offer something for everyone. Spectators can take in the action from Manatee Sanctuary Park, a perfect vantage point to follow the excitement of racing while learning about the sport of dragon boat. Another point of interest is the Walgreens Health and Wellness Village, where participants and spectators can receive products and services to help maintain a healthy lifestyle. Families are invited to bring their children to enjoy games and activities offered at the Kids Zone. Paddlers will have space to relax with their teams in the Neutrogena Suncare Athletes' Village.
GWN Dragon Boat
First off, welcome to dragon boat, a unique and high-spirited team water sport where teams of 20 people paddle in unison to the beat of the drum. Not only is it accommodating to all fitness levels, ages, sizes and physical abilities, but no experience is necessary and we provide the boats, paddles and lifejackets. You and your colleagues just need to show up ready to have fun and get a little wet.
What better way to blast off the Walgreens MLDB series than with a trip to Florida's Space Coast? Welcoming both competitive and recreational teams, this event launches the dragon boat season on Cape Canaveral's Banana River.
