History
In 1898, a group of Swedish immigrants gathered to worship in a small meeting house in Haddam Neck, Connecticut. From this beginning has grown a congregation rich in diversity, yet bound together by common faith.
We are part of the Evangelical Covenant Church, whose roots go back to the spiritual renewal that swept through the Swedish Lutheran Church in the 19th century. True to our heritage, we confess the Bible to be the Word of God and believe in the necessity of new life in Christ. We celebrate the church as a family of believers, acknowledge our dependence on the Holy Spirit, and cherish freedom in Christ; a freedom which allows differences, but does not divide.
Our purpose as a church is described in our Mission Statement:
You have been given a full life in Christ...having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through faith by the power of god.
