About:
The Hall Family has been growing and selling Christmas trees since 1931! Toby and Cynthia Hall are the current owners of the farming business. Toby grew up on the farm with his parents,Donald & Dottie Hall and three sisters and one brother. He learned at a young age that there is more to farming than putting seeds in the ground and watching them grow. Not only is there a lot of back-breaking work but there are risks of crop failure when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate. There are marketing risks when whatyou have grown doesn't have a demand. A farmer can also count on equipment breakdowns, not enough workers to help meet the planting, harvesting and shipping deadlines and having lots of bills to pay with only seasonal money available to pay them. Toby learned a lot from his parents and his Grandfather George Hall about farming and selling Christmas trees. He helped operate a retail sales lot in West Concord, Massachusetts from 1962 until 2009 when his thoughts turned to planning for retirement. In 2011 Toby & Cynthia sold much of their tree inventory toHighland Blue Ribbon Trees (HBRT) operated by the Charlotte White Center in nearby Dover-Foxcroft. In just two short years the folks at HBRT were cultivating quality trees and filling orders for the Hall's wholesale customers without a hitch. Toby and Cynthia could see retirement approaching when their niece Abbey Bray decided she would like to see if she could merge growing Christmas trees on the farm where she grew up with her own Spring-Summer-Fall New Leaf Gardening and Landscape Design business. She's now into her third season of co-managing the Christmas Store and has three plantations of her own to nurture as well as a nursery with thousands on tiny seedlings that will be ready to sell as transplants in just a few short years.
