Robert Bartleh Cummings was born January 12, 1965 in the post-industrial town of Haverhill, Massachusetts. His parents were carnival workers, an a-typical family business for a boy to grow up in. Little Rob spent his youth on the road but always settling back into his hometown.
"It was a boring town. Very typical, boring, nothing to do, very uptight. Anything slightly out of the norm was shunned by everybody. You know, conformity all around. I just didn't fit in. I think I spent a while purposely trying not to fit in."
Cummings went on to become the famous Rob Zombie. We're positive that he never expected an experimental film festival to waltz into town and shatter the conformity he grew up in. Fifty years since his birth, the Haverhill Experimental Film Festival enters its third year. The directors will come strolling in on floats, carny style, from the southern states, to enact another three-day show for the inhabitants of our gorgeous Haverhill. And it's free for everyone.
