About Us:
Heber City is located in the Heber Valley in Wasatch County, Utah. Heber Valley was first settled in 1858, with the first permanent residents staying in 1860. Heber City was incorporated into a city in 1889. The population of Heber City at the 2000 Census was 7,291. Heber City covers 4.05 sq miles. US Highway 40 runs through the center of town.
Heber City was first settled in the mid-1800s by pioneers that ventured up Provo Canyon to farm in the rich river plain. Named after Heber C. Kimball the settlers constructed the first homes into a fort to protect from Native Americans in an area that was between 100 and 300 West and 200 and 500 North. Many criticized the settlers for choosing a climate that was too cold to farm and a growing season that would be too short to produce large crops, but ultimately the critics were proven wrong.
Incorporated in 1889 Heber was the first city to be created within Wasatch County.
Now the City is home to almost 8,000 residents many of whom work within the city and Wasatch County.
The history is rich and the people are friendly. Whether you come to enjoy a ride on the Heber Valley Historic Railroad or come for the recreation opportunities in the surrounding forests, Heber is a destination that would not soon be forgotten.
