Our History...........
Hickory Hollow Baptist Chapel first met on April 1, 1984 as a mission of Judson Baptist Church and Crievewood Baptist Church. That day 44 people met at the Hickory Hollow Best Western Inn in Antioch, TN. For the first three months the chapel was lead by part-time pastor, Dr. Gary Cook.

In June 1984, Rev.Lemuel F. Wade was called to serve as part-time pastor for the Chapel. During his ministry the Chapel experienced considerable growth, which in November 1986, prompted a move to a larger facility, the Kids Inn Day Care Center on Murfreesboro Road in Antioch, TN.

Groundbreaking services for a new building were held February 1, 1987 on 15 acres of land located at 625 Bell Road, Antioch, TN. The land had been previously purchased with a grant from the Nashville Baptist Association and the two sponsoring churches, Judson Baptist Church and Crievewood Baptist Church. On August 2, 1987 the members of Hickory Hollow Baptist Chapel met in the new building for the first time.

The Chapel continued to experience growth under the leadership of Rev. Wade who continued his ministry at the Chapel until September 1990 when it was decided by the sponsoring churches that the needs of the Chapel had reached that of a full-time pastor.

During the time from September 1990 until May 1991, Rev. Norris Hite served the Chapel as part-time interim pastor.

On May 19, 1991, Dr. G. Wesley Shotwell was called by the Chapel to begin his ministry as their first full-time pastor. In 1992 the Chapel purchased a modular building for additional Sunday School space and added a parking lot in front of the building. In 1995 with the help of volunteers and donated materials a large picnic shelter was built on the acreage behind the Chapel. In October 1995, the Chapel entered into a 3 to 5 year agreement with Simeon Baptist Church to share the Chapels facilities for the benefit of both memberships. The Chapel receiving financial assistance by way of monthly rent and Simeon having a full church facility without the financial burden of monthly mortgage payments and upkeep costs. Simeon Baptist Church grew under the leadership of Rev. Elgia (Jay) Wells their part-time pastor and in the summer of 2002 they began building their new church on a 5 acre track of land located on Murfreesboro Road just inside the Davidson County line. Their new church building was completed in the summer of 2003 with their 1st worship service taking place on September 7th, 2003. In December 1997 Dr. G. Wesley Shotwell accepted a call to pastor a church in Texas.

In March 1998, the Chapel called Dr. Archer Thorpe from the Tennessee Baptist Convention to serve as part-time interim pastor.

In Feburary 1999 the Chapel called Rev. Jim Twilbeck from Louisiana as it's full-time pastor. During the next 2 years the Chapel became compelety self supporting and constituted itself as a Church. In March 2001, Rev. Jim Twilbeck accepted a call to be the Mission's Director for the Western Baptist District Association in Paris, TN.

In April 2001, the Church again called Dr. Archer Thorpe from the Tennessee Baptist Convention to serve as part-time interim pastor.

In May 2002, the Church called Richard Skidmore from the Tennessee Baptist Convention to serve as part-time interim pastor as Dr. Thorpe's TBC interim time limit had expired.

On August 18, 2002 the Church called Rev. Ray Clubb to be it's full time pastor. Rev. Clubb was the former pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Old Hickory, Tennessee where he served for 9 years. He began his ministry at HHBC on September 8th, 2002.
