About Us

The Hilton Head Choral Society was founded in 1975, to perform Handel's Messiah. The repertoire and membership have been expanded to include major classical and contemporary works and seasonal favorites. The Society is an open membership to community members who love to sing and enjoy good fellowship.

An orchestra of professional musicians and professional soloists are included in our concerts, as the music of the masters requires. A concert may total over 200 instrumentalists and singers!

The one hundred forty voice ensemble presents four major programs per season - A Fall Pops Concert, The Christmas Concert, The Musical Masterworks Concert and a pair of Memorial Day Concerts celebrating the art of American choral singing and a patriotic tribute. The 2006 - 2007 Season brings the initial mantinee concerts of our Christmas and Masterworks Concerts. A representative group of the Society performed concerts in Munich, Prague, Vienna, Salzberg and Lucerne in the summer of 2002,and in Northern Italy the summer of 2004.

The 2006-2007 season will be the fouth season for the Hilton Head Choral Society Chamber Singers. This ensemble of 20 singers, auditioned from the Choral Society members, perform two concerts featuring 15th-21st century chamber music. In addition to the new musical repertoire, the Chamber Singers have the flexibility to perform in new venues such as outreach programs and regional festivals in the future. Tim Reynolds serves as music director for this new venture.
