About as:
Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church was founded in the year of 1860 on New Market Pike with a membership of seven. In the 1920's the church moved from New Market Pike to its present location. Here the church joined the Mud Creek North Alabama and Tennessee Association. W. P. Petty was called to pastor in 1932 and served the church for thirty-three years, longer than any of his predecessors.
Our current pastor, Reverend Leroy R. Cole was called to pastor in 1978. He watered the seeds planted by his predecessors with the word of God and the anointing of the Holy Ghost. He coined the phrase, "Hopewell Experience" which is popular throughout New Market, Huntsville and surrounding areas.
Hopewell is a church that is Commissioned by God, Committed by Faith and Challenged by Love to build up the Kingdom of God. Due to a significant increase in church membership, Hopewell had to start a building program. Today Hopewell is continuing the same worship experience in a newly erected church facility. The first worship service held in the new facility was September 13, 1998.
