Community members, parents, the school board, teachers, support staff and principals in the Howards Grove School District take pride in providing a caring child-centered education for all students in their K-12 district. The approximately 130 professional staff and support staff serve the district's 940 students in three facilities--one elementary school, one middle school, and high school. The district includes all of the Village of Howards Grove (site of all three district schools) and the Town of Herman, half of the Town of Mosel and parts of the Towns of Rhine, Sheboygan Falls and Meeme. Bus service is provided for rural students at district expense.
The district residents support their schools. An $8 million dollar referendum passed for the high school and the remodeling of two buildings on the first try in April 1992. School activities are attended by parents, students and community members. Newcomers are surprised by the standing-room-only crowds at school events. The community is proud of their hard-working, caring staff. The district's reputation for good schools is well deserved.
The five member school board is elected at large for staggered three year terms. The board adopts educational and fiscal policies and an annual budget and levies a school tax. The annual operating budget is in excess of $9 million.
