The Huntington Freedom Center: A Community Resource
The Huntington Freedom Center is a not-for-profit childcare agency that has been serving the community since 1963. Originally founded as a part of the Civil Rights movement, the HFC has become a multi-part resource for families seeking quality, affordable childcare, while helping them to maintain gainful employment. The Huntington Freedom Center offers a full-day, year-round program for children ages 18 months to 5 years old, focusing on the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical developmental skills of the children; serving up healthy and delicious breakfasts and lunches every day; and providing plenty of good old fashioned fun.
The Huntington Freedom Center is located at 159 Railroad Street in Huntington Station. In addition to client families who are aided by the Suffolk County Department of Social Services, the Center receives contributions from individuals and philanthropic organizations, which provide substantial scholarship assistance to working families in need of assistance in meeting the tuitin payments for their children.
