It is the mission of the Huntingtown Elementary School staff to ensure that each student has the opportunity to participate in all phases of the learning process, acquire and apply knowledge, and develop skills which will enable him/her to become a well-adjusted, productive and enriched citizen.
The staff at Huntingtown Elementary School embraces the Calvert County Public Schools' Master Plan and the State's Bridge to Excellence in support of No Child Left Behind along with the "Correlates of Effective Schools" (Lawrence Lezotte, 1997). We believe that all children can learn through:
Strong instructional leadership provided by teachers, administration, and SIT membership
Clearly stated, realistic, high expectations based on students' individual needs
Continued monitoring and assessing of school progress and student performance
A cooperative partnership between school, PTA and community
Professional development endeavors for staff and administration fostering broad-based skillful involvement
A clear understanding of mastery teaching, learning, assessment, and educational research and research-based strategies that improve student mastery
A school climate conducive to learning and a safe and orderly environment that is culturally responsive
