"Serving the community since 1926"

The IHEC Lions was originally founded as the Lions Club of Indiana Harbor East Chicago on August 17th, 1926 with 56 chartered members. The club was also known as the East Chicago Noon Lions Club after sponsoring a second club in East Chicago known as the East Chicago Evening Lions Club. Today, the club has chosen to use its original chartered name and serves the community with a diverse group of 32 dedicated members. The club meets on the second Friday and the fourth Saturday of every month, from September to June. The meeting location is currently at the St. Catherine's Hospital, 2nd floor, nurses conference room.

Throughout its years in existence, the Lions Club has been the foundation of many noble causes. The club sponsors two pancake breakfasts per year along other with other fund raising events, to raise money for projects, such as providing Leader Dogs for the Blind, Cancer Research, Diabetes Awareness, Speach and Hearing, Indiana School for the Blind and Hearing Impaired, Indiana Eye and Tissue Bank along with local assistance for eyeglasses, hearing aids, the construction of wheel chair ramps for the handicapped and many other projects and community assistance.
