Jim Allen Elementary School is located in Cantonment, Florida, a small rural community ten miles north of Pensacola. This community was originally, and remains today, a papermill town.
Over 750 students attend Jim Allen each year in kindergarten through fifth grade.
The classrooms each have an average of 4 computers. The students are able to work on these computers throughout the day for reinforcement of basic skills and enrichment. The students and teachers at Jim Allen have access to museums, libraries, and databases of information worldwide through a direct internet connection in each classroom.
The school has an in house TV studio which can be used to broadcast programs throughout the school. A technology resource teacher works with students and teachers daily.
Jim Allen is fortunate to have Title I funds and Dropout Prevention funds to aid in educating our children. With these monies, additional teachers are secured so that each classroom has less than 30 students.
Jim Allen has a staff of teachers who show a love for children and encourage parent participation. There is an active volunteer program where parents are encouraged to give of their time to help both students and teachers. Parent contact is made on a regular basis so parents know what is happening in their children's lives.
