About the McIlvaine Early Childhood Center :
The McIlvaine Early Childhood Center (M.E.C.C.) houses the Caesar Rodney School District's All Day Kindergarten Program. This "small school with big smiles" houses six all day kindergarten classes and draws its population from every elementary school (excluding Air Base schools) in the district. All classes are staffed with a fully certified teacher and a full-time paraprofessional. Additional services and programs provided to M.E.C.C. students include Boost Up, home visitations, speech therapy, Reading Success from the Start, and daily computerized Breakthrough to Literacy training. Students shuttle to and from their home schools to the M.E.C.C. on a daily basis. The M.E.C.C. has received a performance rating of "Superior" for the 2003-2004 school year.
Mission:
We believe that each person should be accepted into the educational program as he or she is, and that he or she is offered an opportunity to attain his / her potential -- physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially. It is our aim to help each child develop a positive self-image. It is our desire to help each child recognize and accept responsibilities as a citizen in the community and democratic world, and to teach a sound value system that will guide his or her contact in daily life.
