Our school system provides a comprehensive program which includes Blue Ribbon Schools and a nationally acclaimed regional vocational agricultural program. Killingly's public school system is complemented by opportunities to attend St. James School, a private elementary school, H. H. Ellis Technical High School and the Quinebaug Valley Community College. The completion of a 30,000 square foot building addition to the college offers the ability to expand on the excellent educational opportunities that presently exist for our area. The Killingly School District will soon be breaking ground on a new high school, offering curriculum enhancements for our students not only at the high school level but throughout the system as well.

Business opportunities exist in our historic mills, the Industrial Park and the National Historic Main Street District. Vacant land or sites with rail are available for new development. The Main Street area offers shopping in a friendly atmosphere as well as new opportunities for retail development along Route 12 to the announced new retail development, Killingly Commons, located near the intersection of Routes 12 and 101.

The Killingly Parks and Recreation Department maintains several parks; the largest being Owen Bell Park, which hosts little league, softball, baseball, track and field complex. For indoor activities the Community Center hosts a gymnasium and an auditorium for the Community Theater as well as concerts put on by local musicians. These quality active and leisure programs are offered throughout the year. Killingly's location in the Quinebaug and Shetucket National Heritage Corridor provides outdoor walks during the Walking Weekends in the fall.
