About Us:
There are few things in life more important than your child’s education. As a district, Kingsley Area Schools are organized, unified, and committed to helping our students reach their highest academic standards possible. Constantly we receive Michigan Department of Education’s top recognition as “Beating the Odds” and “Reward Schools”. Bridge Magazine ranked us Academic All-State placing us 3rd overall. These recognitions come as a direct result of the hard work of our dedicated teaching staff.
Kingsley Area Schools is a class B school district with approximately 1,500 students. We are located 12 miles south of Traverse City in Grand Traverse County. In addition to our excellent academics, we are proud to offer a diverse curriculum complete with extensive extracurricular opportunities. Kingsley’s band, choir, and jazz band programs consistently receive top honors at state festivals. Our athletic programs provide opportunities for students to be successful and, for the most part, participate in any sport of their choosing.
Kingsley was once a small, rural farming community on the outskirts of Traverse City, in southeastern Grand Traverse County.
Although the location hasn't changed, Kingsley has experienced significant growth and change in recent years. With populations growing throughout the Grand Traverse Region, enrollment in Kingsley Area School has increased, allowing new construction within our school district, more diverse course offerings, and additional after-school programs to meet the interests of a more diverse student population. New homes and businesses have sprung up all over town. Families are moving here to live and work, not simply to live and commute to larger communities.
The result has been a stronger community, and an outstanding school district, that offers a solid curriculum, extensive use of the latest technology, state champion sports teams, and a community where everyone can belong.
