About the Council

Manresa Council was instituted in Azusa, May 11, 1952 by District Deputy Joseph Drew. It came into being because of the need of a Catholic men's organization in a predominately non-Catholic city. The council took its name from the retreat house, which was situated in Azusa. This retreat house is no longer in existence.

The first officers of Council 3522 were: Grand Knight Ernest Templin, Deputy Grand Knight James Nugent, Chancellor Anthony Ortuno, Warden Ralph Velasco, Recorder James Heffron, Outside Guard Lupe Ochoa, Lecturer Joe A. Hernandez, Advocate John Trella, Chaplain The Reverend Regis Combs.

In 1994-1995 Columbian year, the Manresa Council was awarded the Best Council in the State of California for recruiting 29 new members, under the direction of the Past Grand Knilght Frank Hernandez Sr.
