"Touching Lives With Love"
Lake Martin Baptist Church began serving the people of this community in September 1990, when eleven Christians with a vision for Christ met in the home of retired missionaries Dr. Howard and Marge Olive. By January 1991, worship services were conducted in a double-wide trailer provided by the Baptist State Board of Missions. The church was officially constituted on April 7, 1991, with twenty-three members with Dr. Howard Olive as pastor.
With the assistance of the North American Mission Board and volunteers from Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee, construction of the original church building was started on June 19, 1992. It was completed and dedicated on July 26, 1992.
Through the years, the membership outgrew the facility and in 1999, Lake Martin Baptist Church voted to build a new sanctuary and educational space. Groundbreaking was held February 17, 1999, and dedication of the new sanctuary was set for November 19, 2000.
During the first ten years the Lord reached approximately 54 persons through professions of faith. He blessed the church's expansion to include Sunday School, Men's Ministry, Women's Missionary Union, Bible Study, Choirs, as well as Youth and Children's programs.
It is our prayer that God will continue to reach out through the members of Lake Martin Baptist Church in love for the people in our community.
