Lassen Community College
Since 1925 the citizens of Susanville and Lassen County have been served by Lassen Community College.
Many alumni still live in the surrounding area and often reflect back upon the wonderful memories of friends and classmates with whom they attended this fine institution. Throughout the years, faculty and staff have come and gone. However, the one thing that remains constant is this college's commitment to its students and the success of those students.
Lassen Community College is dedicated to being a student centered and future oriented institution of higher learning, while serving the needs of a sparsely populated and geographically isolated diverse population.
While we celebrate the accomplishments of our past students, we must remain ever mindful of challenges and opportunities yet to be experienced. It can be rightfully stated that no one can see into the future. However, this does not mean that risking the future has to be blind and random walk. The world around us is in a constant state of change. Social, cultural, political and economic forces drive change. By observing and monitoring change, one may be able to discern trends, which provide a basis for informed decision making.
In addition, careful analysis of these trends may even provide an opportunity to peer into the future through the use of applying inferences and probabilities. It is to this end that Lassen Community College is beginning a process of strategic planning. It is our belief that this process will place the institution in the right position at the right time in the future for the maximum benefit of our students. We cannot tell anyone what the college will look like or how it will function in 2012, but we can tell the world that the college will be stronger, better and even more capable of meeting the educational needs of our students.
In summary, strategic planning requires that the college constantly evaluate its mission and mission statement. This mission statement, however, is not a destination it is a journey - it defines the way we do business and it drives our decision making. So, as we walk into the unknown of the future, come join us on our journey to excellence!
