Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) is a non-profit group working in Leavenworth County to help companion animals. One of our programs is S.A.F.E. (Saving Animals From Euthanasia). We do not have our own facility but instead promote rescued and foster animals for adoption. We are licensed by the State of Kansas as an animal shelter (without a facility). Our animals are nurtured and cared for in state licensed foster homes.

Our main programs are;

Spay/neuter promotion and financial assistance.

Education in the public schools.

Foster care, rehabilitation and placement through adoption into quality homes of animals who have been abandoned or given up by owners. Most of these animals have been saved from euthanasia at Leavenworth Animal Control.

Networking and political action for causes that prevent animal abuse or benefit pet animals.

Volunteer work at Leavenworth Animal Control.
