Lemont-Bromberek Combined School District 113A, in Cook County, is an elementary district with four schools. Currently, Oakwood School houses approximately 800 students in Early Childhood through 2nd Grade, approximately 800 students are in Grades 3, 4 and 5 at River Valley and Central Schools, and nearly 900 students in 6th - 8th Grades attend Old Quarry Middle School. All of our schools rest on beautiful grounds that enhance the atmosphere of the district's educational programs.

The staff of District 113A is committed to the goal of developing each student's full potential through a broad, varied program of curricular and extra-curricular activities. At the core of the traditional curriculum are reading, writing, math, science and social studies, and considerable attention is devoted to the development of these skills. In addition, all students' cultural and physical needs are met through programs in art, music, health, and physical development education. Field trips and cultural arts assemblies are part of our program in all grades and are carefully selected and planned to enrich the curriculum. Extra-curricular programs include such activities as: band, student council, yearbook, art, chess, and intramurals, as well as a wide range of interscholastic sports for both boys and girls. Also available to our students are various academic competitions.

District 113A provides a coordinated program for the gifted/academically talented students in grades K-8. Teachers use a variety of approaches, including clustering students, compacting, differentiating and accelerating curriculum. Additionally, District 113A provides diagnostic and remedial educational programs for special needs students from preschool age through 8th Grade. Specialized support services are also provided for limited English-speaking students from Kindergarten through Grade 8.

Of special importance to the district are its PTA and Band Boosters. The cooperative relationships that exist with these organizations advance the notion of parent involvement that is so critically important to the achievement of students. Parents are our partners in creating an excellent educational community.
