USD 298 Lincoln has a history of providing a high quality education for all students. The Board of Education, school staff, parents, and district patrons provide and encourage high expectations for all learners and challenge students to reach their fullest potential.

In January 2013, Lincoln Elementary School (LES) was awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. The LES 21st Century grant is called the Lincoln Enrichment and Achievement Program (LEAP). The LES mascot is Les the Leopard, and a group of leopards is called “leap”. The program is available to all students, providing academic support and enrichment activities after school five days a week throughout the school year. Many of the enrichment activities include a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) focus.

Lincoln Elementary School, with the assistance of a local grant, was able to provide iPads for grades 5 and 6 Language Arts classes. LES also has a number of laptop carts that can be moved from room to room and a computer lab. A technology integration process has been implemented in Pre-K through grade 6 in an effort to provide technology-based learning opportunities for all students.

A one-to-one laptop computer initiative has been in place for grades 9 through 12, since 2004. Currently, laptops are available to students in grades 7 and 8. Laptops have also been added for sixth graders. These laptops for grades 6, 7 and 8 will only be used by students during the school day, but will not be taken home. Internet access for district staff and students has been greatly improved by installing a 50 mg fiber optic internet connection.

USD 298 will continue to update district technology, making it available to students and staff. The Board of Education set a district goal to “Be a Leader in Educational Technology” and believes students should leave our district with 21st Century technology skills. The Board of Education, district staff, parents, and district patrons continue to work together to explore ways to maintain and improve our educational process in an era of declining revenue
