About

What is now Living Hope Presbyterian Church began as a Bible study in Bath, Maine, in 1990. The group moved to Woolwich and began evening services on Easter Sunday, 1991.

Morning worship services began in the spring of 1992, and the congregation adopted the name Merrymeeting Bay Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Meanwhile, the fellowship was growing and in 1994 moved into a leased space at the Casper Building on Route 196 in Topsham.

In 1996 our current pastor, Gordon Cook, Jr., and his wife, Pam, moved to the area and began their ministry among us. In 2000, the church became an organized congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian denomination.

After the building we were leasing was sold in 2003, the group began meeting in the Seventh Day Adventist Church building on Maine Avenue in Brunswick.

Michael Fettes was called by the congregation in 2004 to serve as a teacher. Rev. Fettes retired due to disability in 2013. In that same year John Kramer was called to serve as a teacher. He was ordained and installed by the OPC Presbytery of New York and New England in 2014.

In September 2015, by God's grace we purchased a church building at 142 Pleasant Street in Brunswick, formerly owned by the Brunswick Church of the Brethren. Shortly after the move to the new building, the congregation voted to change the name of the church to Living Hope Presbyterian Church (OPC) to better reflect our ministry and mission to the Midcoast area of Maine.

You can be part of our future as we continue to walk humbly with our God, seeking to glorify Him by the grace of Christ according to His Word.
