We Believe ....

In the deity of God the Father and that He created all things seen and unseen natural and supernatural

In the deity of Jesus Christ and that He was present at the beginning of creation, that He was sent, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious redemptive and atoning death on the Cross for all of mankind, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension into heaven, in His return in the clouds, and in His second coming to earth to establish His glorious kingdom forever and ever

In the deity of the Holy Spirit and that He was present at the beginning of creation, that He was sent after the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven as a Helper which the Father sent in Jesus' name and that He will teach Christians all things and bring to our remembrance the teachings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

That salvation (being saved or born again) comes by confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and by believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead

That in order to see the kingdom of heaven one must be born again (saved)

That the forgiveness of your sins comes only through your repentance and through your acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior (salvation) and that through this repentance and acceptance your sins are washed away by the Blood of the Lamb Jesus Christ and that they are cast as far as the East is from the West and are never remembered again

That Christians should be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ by submersion in water which symbolizes the burial of our old lifestyle (as your submersed) and the resurrection of our new lifestyle (as you come up out of the water) through Jesus Christ

In the baptism of the Holy Spirit in accordance with Acts 2:4 / 11:15-17

That by the stripes that were laid upon His back we are healed

That the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then those who are in Christ, who are alive and remain shall be caught up (raptured) together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and thus will remain with Him forever and ever

That every knee shall bow and that every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord

In the Great White Throne Judgement and in the Lambs Book of Life according to Revelation 20:11-15

Church History

Living Word Church actually started out as Community Bible Church ( CBC ) in August of 1999 in the living room of Pastor Rex Harrell who at that time lived on Plantation street in Angleton. At that time Pastor Rex asked Pastor James to come on board as the Associate Pastor of CBC. As the church began to grow more room was needed so the decision was made to rent a location at a store front located on Henderson Road. This move took place in November of 1999. As the church began to settle into their new location God opened up yet another door for CBC. There was a church located on Valderas street in Angleton that appeared to be vacant but unbeknown to Pastor James there was a small group of people who were gathering there on Sunday's. This church was the First Christian Church which was Pastored by the late Pastor Charles Landon. At this point we must take you back in time two years before the formation of CBC. After Pastor James' calling into the ministry he was at that time doing some Evangelistic work in the local area but each time he would drive by this church located on Valderas street he would proclaim by faith that he would one day be preaching in that church in the name of Jesus Christ. If Pastor James failed to proclaim it as he drove by which was very rarely his wife Brenda would remind him to proclaim the church if she was with him. In January of 2000 Pastor Charles Landon of the First Christian Church passed away. One day as Pastor James was sitting in his office at his place of employment he received a phone call from Mrs. Landon who wished to speak to Pastor James about occupying a church building. Pastor James had no idea what church it was but that indeed a church was available. So Pastor James meet with Mrs. Landon and she had him follow her to the location. Well I don't need to tell you how Pastor James felt as they pulled into the driveway of the church located on Valderas street. It was the very church in which he had been proclaiming for two years. A tornado had just recently hit the church causing extensive damage to the roof and the interior of the church but Pastor James told Mrs. Landon, "We will get it cleaned up and repaired and we will open it up as CBC". So in February of 2000 CBC moved from their Henderson location to the Valderas location. In April of 2000 Pastor Rex who was working for the Texas Department of Corrections had received a transfer to Huntsville, TX. So on April 9th, 2000 Pastor Rex Harrell passed the mantel of CBC onto then Associate Pastor James Walcik and thus Pastor James was named the Pastor of CBC. Pastor James Walcik preached his first sermon as Pastor of CBC on April 16th, 2000 which was a special day in two ways. It was his first sermon as Pastor of CBC and it was also Easter Sunday. Pastor James received his official ordination into the office of Pastor in June of 2000. As the church continued to grow through the next two years Pastor James felt in his heart that a name change was needed to reflect the "Bringing the Bible to Life" style of preaching that God had given to Pastor James and to also reflect the dynamic "Come as you are" culture of the church. Basically, God had given Pastor James a different vision than what Pastor Rex had for CBC. When Pastor James had received a confirmation from his months of praying about the new direction and name change, the decision was made to change the name from Community Bible Church (CBC) to Living Word Church (LWC). The official name change was implemented on January 1st, 2002. The church has come a long way and the vision of the church is to reach out to the unchurched as well as those who attend or have attended church but are looking for something new, refreshing, and exciting. LWC also has a vision of expanding it's walls in the future. There is still however a lot of work to do to complete the renovation of the building but God is blessing LWC and the church continues to plow forward in the name of Jesus Christ. If you are interested in getting involved in a church from the ground up, then LWC is the place to be. We hope to see you soon, But remember .....
"Come as you are"
