The Lockport Chorale is an adult singing group established in 1982 by Charles Green. Mr. Green directed the group for 19 years, performing a wide variety of sacred and popular music.
Currently, the group is under the direction of Miss. Kristin Hill and consists of about 45 able SATB singers who enjoy challenging materials and new musical experiences. Although the group is centered in Lockport, members come from all over the Western New York area. Repertoire covers a broad range of music, from the classical sacred pieces to Broadway tunes, light jazz and standards. The selections are made with an eye to stretching the abilities of the group, and providing challenging opportunities for the singers. The Chorale also performs jointly with various church choirs, the Lockport Community Band, The Easy Street Band, the Lockport Community Children's Chorus, the Lockport High School Show Choir, the Lockport High School Concert Choir, the Niagara Catholic High School Choir, and the Festival Chorus.
Rehearsals are held Tuesday nights from 7 to 9 PM at Christ Episcopal Church, Rochester Road (Route 31) and Fieldcrest Drive (across from the Route 31 Topps Grocery Store), Lockport, from February thru May and September thru December. A holiday concert in December and a spring concert in May as well as performances at local nursing homes are usually scheduled each year. Newcomers are always welcome.
