London Junior High School provides small-scale "communities for learning" where close, trusting relationships amoung faculty members and students give rise to a climate that stimulates growth and intellectual development. In these communities, students can rely on a small group of caring adults who work closely with each other to provide coordinated, meaningful, and challenging educational experiences. The teachers get to know every one of their students well enough to understand and respond to them as individuals.
To create personalized environments, London Junior High School teachers and the administrator organized more informal clusters of students. Recognizing that the junior high school years are the transition years, curriculum and class structures are designed to accommodate this transition.
