Mid-Coast Family Services is a non-profit organization whose mission is "to help individuals and families by eliminating family violence, homelessness, and substance abuse." Our organization is the product of a September 1999 merger between two non-profit communities-based organizations: The Women's Crisis Center, originally founded in 1984, and Mid-Coast Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse, founded in 1991.Today, in Victoria and the six surrounding counties, we provide housing and a fresh start for chronically homeless men; substance abuse intervention and prevention services for youth and adults; on-campus counselors for at-risk students at schools in our service area; and intervention, legal advocacy, emergency shelter, and counseling for victims of family violence. We also currently hold the state contract for providing substance abuse outreach, screening, assessment, and referral services for a 28-county area stretching from Calhoun County across South Texas to Del Rio.
