June 2006 marked the 112th commencement exercise of Monticello High School. Monticello High School has a long and proud history of excellence that is promoted by a diversified program that allows every student to "Stretch Your Mind; Expand Your World." Academic offerings include: opportunity to earn college credits, complete advanced placement and honors courses, experience learning through placement in resources in the community, receive vocational or technical training, participate in our Academy of Finance, learn with other county student through Distance Learning, receive attention for special needs, as well as choose from a wide variety of courses.
Monticello High School uses a modified block schedule that allows student to be active learners. The students' schedules allow them to choose nine options that include academic courses and lunch. Each day consists of six periods; two 84-minute classes, three of traditional length, followed by another period of 84 minutes. The longer classes meet every other day; the traditional period meet every day.
The performing and fine arts program is recognized as one of the finest in the area. Students participate in dramas, musicals, concerts, and shows. Monticello High School has students who receive recognition at art competitions, all-county, area all-state, and all-state musical festivals.
