The farm was purchased in 1945 by John and Rose Moore. With the help of their 3 sons they raised chickens, and beef cattle. John also had an egg route in Akron where he sold eggs and produce door to door. In 1974 Harold (son) and LaVera Moore purchased the farm and continued to raise grains and cattle. In 1980 the first evergreens were planted and Moore's Tree Farm was born. In 1992 Harold and LaVera's five children and their spouses formed a family partnership. In 1993 a wind shear destroyed the barn thus ending the raising of cattle. In 1999, the first daylilies and hostas were planted where the barn was located.
Moore's Tree Farm is a family own, 100 acre farm that specializes in growing Christmas trees, daylilies and hostas. Each year about 2000 evergreen seedlings are planted. After 7 to 10 years of growing, mowing, fertilizing, and trimming, families walk the trees with a tree sled and saw to find that "perfect" tree for their home. Fresh evergreen wreaths, swags, centerpieces, and roping are also available during the Christmas season
In addition to the trees over 500 varieties of daylilies and over 200 varieties of hostas are grown for sale in the spring and summer.
Potted daylilies and hostas are always available from early May to the end of September.
We will be open for tree & wreath sales the Friday after Thanksgiving (November 24th).
