New Albany High School is a four-year comprehensive high school accredited by the Ohio Department of Education and nationally recognized as a School of Excellence. Enrollment for the 2005-06 school year is 827 in grades 9-12. With the community experiencing rapid growth, the state-of-the-art high school facility that opened in August 1996 enhances learning as we prepare students for life in the 21st Century.

New Albany High School students benefit from close relationships with the 78 faculty members. Average class size is maintained at about 24. Approximately half of the faculty has obtained master’s degrees, while others pursue advanced training through graduate school course work, inservice training, and conference attendance.

Student access to technology is a centerpiece of the NAHS program. Currently, 470 computers give staff and students ample opportunities to engage in local and regional networking, use word processing, generate spreadsheets, and create databases. In addition, students have access to a Kinko’s for Kids production facility and the Cisco Lab for multimedia production.

New Albany High School instituted an innovative schedule in the fall of 1999. This schedule consists of four major components designed to provide curricular and instructional flexibility and to improve the quality of the teaching-learning process. Component One provides that each course meet for an extended period of time (block) once a week to facilitate the use of a broader range of instructional strategies. Component Two, referred to as Academic Options, affords students the opportunity to meet with teachers on a one-to-one basis for assistance with individual concerns. Component Three, the Eagle Period, creates a framework to address instructional concerns that are unique to a grade level rather than a course. Component Four, Professional Collaboration, offers teachers and administrators time to plan and reflect on educational practices and to broaden their perspective of a quality learning organization through interaction with leaders in the local business community. We are extremely proud of the opportunities that this schedule has provided the staff, students, and community.
