The rotating collection at North River Gallery primarily features fine paintings and sculpture that range from the 1850's to the 1950's, with works from artists including Martin Jackson and William Charles McNulty. Putsavage says that he had been looking in Columbia County when the ideal location on Chatham's Main Street inspired him to make it the birthplace of the North River Gallery.
The North River Gallery is infused with the spirit of the Hudson Valley region from its artwork to the source of its name. The North River was the colonial name for the entire Hudson, given to it by the Dutch in the early seventeeth century. While the name's popularity has waned over the years, the beauty of the historic artwork that the area inspired has stood the test of time.
