Northside Baptist Church

655 West Thompson Lane
615-896-6440

Mission:

In obedience to our Lord's 'Great Commission', we believe that our priority is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible in our community and throughout the world.

Goals:

Lead men into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

To equip men and help them grow in their personal walk to be more like Jesus at home, in the community, at their jobs, and in their service to Northside.

Unite men in fellowship, discipleship, and accountability.

Promote mentoring opportunities that lead to significant vital relationships.

Provide events that promote fellowship, outreach and evangelism.

The church also subscribes to the doctrinal statement of the 'Baptist Faith, and Message' as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention with all current amendments and reaffirmations.

We affirm the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God, and as the only basis for our doctrine and beliefs. It was written by men, divinely inspired, and is the perfect record of God's revelation of Himself-to man. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and the truth without any mixture of error for its matter. It is inerrant and infallible in its original manuscript, which is to be taken as verbally inspired.

For the past 22 years Southeast Baptist has answered God's call to the Lakota people. Northside Baptist has been a part of missions to the Lakota Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota for 6 years.

The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is one of the poorest areas in the United States. A typical native American can expect little in his future. The average male dies at age 48 and women at 53.

Jobs are few and pay little. Most men have little to do and drugs and violence are commonplace.

Christianity is merged with Lakota beliefs and the result is neither Christian nor Lakota. The strongest Christian influence in found in the Catholic Church which tolerates a merging of Christian beliefs with Lakota spiritualism.
