About Us:

At Olalla Elementary School we believe all students can learn. We use a variety of research-based instructional methods to enhance student achievement. In addition to traditional classroom lessons, students learn in cooperative groups and work with hands-on materials.

Reading is our school-wide focus this year. In this new millennium, higher levels of reading than ever before are necessary for our complex and technological society. Technical reading and reading for new information will become necessary to compete in students' future careers. Students must acquire the knowledge, skills and strategies that will allow them to write and think critically. We are working hard to help equip our students with the necessary skills to meet the Washington State Essential Learning standards. We are proud of our special education inclusion model, which allows special needs students to remain in their regular classrooms.

Olalla Elementary School was built in 1954. The building contains 43,999 square feet of space including 20 permanent classrooms and sits on a 15.52 acre site. Additions were made in 1966, 1973, and 1978 with the final phase including the modernization of the existing building. The overall condition of the building is good.

Olalla has easily accessible handicapped parking spaces; a path and ramp have been added to facilitate access to the building. Trees, flowers, and other plants surrounding the school are native to Washington, beautifying this rural site.

The building is available for use by community groups. PTA hosted movie nights, a sock hop, a bingo night, an auction and a plant sale. Karate and basketball were held during the winter. Community Youth Basketball and Baseball, Pee Wees and Little League enjoyed the gym and the fields.
