About Us:
The Palo Verde Unified School is located in the fertile Palo Verde Valley which forms the easternmost portion of Riverside County, California. Founded in 1936, our district serves approximately 3600 students in three elementary schools, one middle school, one comprehensive senior high school and one alternative high school. We are one of the largest employers in the valley with 200 certificated and 245 classified staff members.
Classified and certificated staff members work closely with parents, community groups, and private and public agencies to make the instructional program an outstanding one for each and every student. A safe and secure learning environment is a hallmark of the district and is fostered by a positive school climate and partnerships with the Blythe Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. On a daily basis, we strive to live up to our district motto of "Improving Learning Together."
Blythe is an agricultural community with a population of approximately 22,000 and includes tourism as an important factor in its economy due to the close proximity of the Colorado River and its many water activities. With over 350 days of sunshine each year, the valley hosts many "snowbirds," who come from the colder portions of the United States and Canada to enjoy spring-like weather from November through May.
Our schools have demonstrated a high level of performance and growth in the many measures of instructional improvement including the Academic Performance Index (API) and the Annual Yearly Progress (AYP). Palo Verde Valley High School has a full six-year term of accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. All schools have been modernized and upgraded over the past four years and a completely new facility is in the blueprint stage to replace one of the elementary schools.
