Primarily the functions of Perryville Elementary School are to recognize the needs, potentials and abilities of each child so that he/she will become the most effective citizen possible, and to prepare him/her to function usefully in our American way of life.
Learning is a continuum which occurs throughout one's life. The elementary school is in a unique position in this continuum of learning. The curriculum of the elementary school is the foundation of formal education and reaches children during their most formative years.
The program of instruction recognizes children's individual differences and provides for the development of each child's potential. The school also recognizes its responsibility to develop in each child a positive self-concept to mold his/her attitude toward all learning and to promote this growth toward independence.
The educational program of Perryville Elementary School insures each child the maximum development of understandings, attitudes and skills necessary for: healthful living, enjoyment and contribution to the aesthetic aspects of life, family living, world citizenship in an age of technology, and wise use of leisure time.
The development of these understandings, attitudes and skills will be enhanced through each child's daily experiences; thereby preparing them for future academic and social growth.
Throughout the year we will focus on eight major areas including: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, CARING, JUSTICE, HONESTY, SELF-DISCIPLINE, INTEGRITY and COOPERATION. A variety of activities will be taking place in our school to emphasize these traits. However, you are a key to the implementation and success of this very important aspect of your child's development.
