About
The Friends of the Library were organized in 1997 to assist the Library in its mission to provide support and services to the greater community. The Friends participate and encourage cultural, educational and entertainment programs and help to provide funds for Library materials, equipment and services beyond the scope of the Library’s operating budget.
Libraries need Friends – it’s just that simple. In fact, across America many public libraries were established through the efforts of community members who understood the value of libraries to their communities and also understood that libraries needed community support to survive.
Our Friends group serves as a cornerstone of the community and encourages residents to join them as they undertake their fund raising events in support of the Library, including the Annual Friends’ Book Sale in October, “In the Blink of an Eye,” the student juried photography show held in May in the Gallery and the annual Tea in June.
With annual membership dues of only $5, you will have the chance to plan, create and be involved in an organization that has a direct impact on the community. Friends meetings are generally held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Library. Volunteers are welcome!
