About Us:
The Pleasant Hill Library was built in 1961 on approximately 5.5 acres between Oak Park Boulevard and Santa Barbara Road in Pleasant Hill. The building houses the Library, one of 25 community libraries in the Contra Costa County Library system, as well as the Contra Costa County Library Administration and Technical Services staff, and the Project Second Chance adult literacy program staff.
The library’s collection of over 160,000 books, audiobooks, videos, DVDs and CDs is heavily used. We offer free Internet access from 38 computers. The Heritage Collection of United States genealogical materials is invaluable to genealogists, and the Pleasant Hill Library is a partial Depository Library for Federal government documents. The library recently partnered with the City of Pleasant Hill to promote reuse, increase recycling, and help the city reach its goals for diverting solid waste from landfills by establishing a Green Zone within the library consisting of information displays, books, audio/visual media, and periodicals.
We serve all ages with our programs, which include several preschool story times, teen programs, monthly adult programs and a book club. We are grateful for the support of The Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library, which raise funds for new books and programs.
