History
Hazel Burton moved to Plum Grove in 1925 at the age of ten. She recalls these early days: "There was not an apostolic church, as they called it then, in Plum Grove. Brother Hardy Eason came around 1927 to hold us a revival. He brought his wife and two daughters, Sister Mellie and Sister Grace.
Sister Mellie picked the guitar and both sang. I can still remember the title of a song they sang, 'When I take my Vacation in Heaven.' We sure did enjoy their singing. The men built a brush arbor so we could have church. We used kerosene lamps to see by".
In 1987, the church moved to its present location. Sis. Dorothy Smith was pastor when the land was obtained and cleared and Harold Blum was pastor when the education building was completed. From 1987 until 1993, the fellowship hall was used as an auditorium.
In July 1988, Ernie and Sue parker became pastors and the church continued to enjoy growth. In 1992, ground was broken for a new worship center. The first service in the new building was August 1, 1993 and dedication service was September 18, 1993.
"We today are glad to be a part of the continuing history of Plum Grove Assembly of God. We look back with thanksgiving for God's many blessings and for the faithfulness of those who came before. We also look forward with anticipation to what God has prepared for tomorrow. As we continue to reach out to our area for Christ, our desire is to remain faithful to His will and to carry out the great commission passed on to this generation".
