Puente de la Costa Sur (Puente Resource Center)
provides vital services for men, women, children, and families living in the
rural South Coast communities of Pescadero, La Honda, Loma Mar and San
Gregorio. Puente provides food, clothing, rental and utility assistance;
literacy programs for English and Spanish learners; enrollment in health
insurance programs; educational health outreach, screening, and immunizations;
parenting education and support programs, and counseling and peer support for
adults and children. Currently, Puente's services primarily reach men, women,
and children originally from the rural areas of Oaxaca, Guanajuato, Michoacán,
and Jalisco. In addition, Puente provides services to the region's low income
Anglos. As the primary community resource center in the region, Puente provides complex and wide-ranging services. By
leveraging our resources, we provide unified points of access for a continuum
of services and support in the communities we support. The individuals and
familes served by Puente face wide-ranging challenges that are often compounded
by the isolation that stems from living in rural communities, language
barriers, and difficulties with negotiating a new cultural and social
landscape.
