It is surprising to know that although The Renaissance Center opened its doors in 1999, the story behind its existence began over 50 years earlier when the City of Dickson sent out a call for a medical doctor to serve the health care needs of the community.
Answering the ad was a young, newly licensed doctor from South Pittsburgh, Tennessee, by the name of L.C. Jackson. Opening a one-room medical clinic on the second floor of a retail establishment on Dickson's Main Street, Dr. Jackson began his practice. It didn't take long for the young doctor to realize that he would need help to maintain the level of care he wanted for his patients.
After World War II ended, Dr. Jackson solicited the help of his physician brothers, Drs. William and Jimmy Jackson to join him in caring for the medical needs of the Dickson community.
And so began the Jackson family practice that not only served the people of Dickson County but neighboring Hickman and Humphreys counties as well.
In 1958, the Jackson brothers built Goodlark Hospital. Maintaining the brothers' high standards for exceptional health care, the hospital grew to become one of the finest medical facilities in the mid-state area.
