Established in 1953, Rome Community Theater has provided a showcase for thousands of talented area residents who share a love and appreciation for the dramatic arts. We are chartered by New York State as a not for profit educational institution, dedicated to providing quality theatrical education and entertainment to the entire community.
RCT takes a central role in entertaining local residents and visitors by supporting cultural activities all over the Mohawk Valley! We offer four shows each season (from October thru May) in a variety of genres: musicals, mysteries, dramas, comedies. In addition to our traditional season, we present special seasonal and summer productions each year.
These additional productions sometimes include a summer Cabaret-style musical review, an evening of one-act plays directed by our apprentice directors, playwright competitions or collaborative productions with other area arts organizations.
You do not need to be a member of RCT to participate in our productions, but we welcome anyone who loves the theater enough to join us. Rome Community Theater is open to the public, except during rehearsals for production. Rome Community Theater is a non-profit organization located on Upper Turin Road, (Route 26) in Rome, New York. It's not just entertainment, it's Community! That's really what RCT is all about, community. We are staffed by all volunteers, no member of RCT receives compensation.
We have over 100 members, and an equal number of non-member volunteers from all walks of life. Doctors, teachers, students, mechanics, housewives, retirees, nurses, computer engineers, you name it. All are welcome at RCT.
