The Elk Grove Rotary Club was founded on November 23, 1970. The club has averaged about 25 members and has always been extremely active in the community and around the world. The club has had many fundraisers but is best known for the Rotaryfest. Rotaryfest officially started in 1986. The event has grown over the years to include a large carnival, food tents and 5 nights of live entertainment. The club has four active committees: International Service: Many large projects include an ambulance to India. An x ray machine to St. Lucia, Trade school in Haiti, Colonoscopy machine to Italy, several boxes for Shelterbox, Clean water throughout the world. Community Service: Donate to many local charities, senior lunch at Hattendorf center, coat drives, food drives, Helping at Food Pantry, Vocational: Review, interview and distribute several scholarships to local graduating students, read to local children on Literacy day and donate books Club Service: Help to organize club outings to musicals, dinners, golf, as well as inviting interesting guest speakers The club is also proud to have been recognized as a 100% Paul Harris Club The club meets every Thursday at Black Steer Char house located in Elk Grove Village for lunch at noon.
