The club was started in November, 1969 by Dr. Howard Baker. The only two term President of the club. It was named the "Rotary Club of Schaumburg". In 1991 the present name of the club (The Rotary Club of Schaumburg-Hoffman Estates) was adopted to reflect the significant membership of Hoffman Estates citizens and businesses.
The club is presently at 68 members, it has been even larger. This club has organized and chartered two new Rotary Clubs. First, taking from it's own base, The Schaumburg A.M. Rotary Club was formed. It was comprised of members who preferred a morning meeting before the business day. Second, The Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle was formed as response to potential members from that area, needing a place close to their businesses.
The club has held several different fundraisers over the years to accumulate funds for the community. From a pancake breakfast to a suitcase party to the present Classic $10,000. This event is a dinner-dance complete with formal attire, that raises over $50,000 each year.
