Mission
St. Matthew is a Stewardship community: we invite, encourage and promote a parish-wide stewardship way of life process, responding to the call to discipleship, amongst the laity and parishes of the diocese. Our mission is to promote and advance the theology of Stewardship through practical education and awareness initiatives so that all Catholics will have the desire and opportunity to share their God given gifts of "time, talent and treasure". Through this commitment we are committed to meet our short-term and long-range financial goals.
St. Matthew is a Faith community: we exist to nourish our Christian Catholic faith life and to grow in a mature, deeper spirituality.
St. Matthew is a parish Community: we are friends who care about each other spiritually and materially; who find our bond of unity in our Eucharistic Celebrations; who enjoy each other in social gatherings.
St. Matthew is a Welcoming community: we welcome all: alienated Catholics, divorced and remarried, singles, and especially those who experience discrimination in our society.
St. Matthew is a Prayerful community: our weekend Eucharist is our communal prayer of praise and thanksgiving; other sacramental celebrations, prayer groups, retreats, ministries and volunteer service - all are prayer experiences offered to God.
St. Matthew is a Vatican II parish: we endeavor to be the new Church envisioned by the second Vatican Council and to carry out its theological, liturgical, biblical and organizational renewal.
St. Matthew is an Ecumenical parish: we pray and work for the restoration of visible unity among the presently separated Christian Churches.
St. Matthew is finally You, the baptized and confirmed People of God, members of the body of Christ along with your pastor and staff, Catholic Christians whose privilege and responsibility is to establish God's kingdom of love, justice and peace in our world.
