The purpose of our church is to lift up Christ to all mankind so others will be drawn to Him and the body of Christ made complete.
Everything that we are about here at San Andreas Community Covenant Church is centered on the person of Jesus Christ. This man, who lived over 2000 years ago, was not just a good man or a great teacher, he is the Son of God - meaning that "the Word [God] became flesh and made His dwelling among us." (John 1:17)
Jesus, "who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a human being, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross!" (Philippians 2:6-8)
Jesus was a great teacher and we cherish the Holy Scriptures (both the Old and the New Testaments) and strive to be people that abide in His Word. We long to be a church that comes together to study His Word not just on Sunday mornings, but throughout the week.
Above all, we acknowledge and submit to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. As the Son of God, He lived a perfect life. In spite of this, He was crucified on a cross and died. His death was not in vain, though, for on the third day after His death, He arose from the dead and over a short period of time He appeared to hundreds of different people. The sacrifice of our Lord's perfect life was for the sake of our imperfect lives. And His ressurection grants us the same freedom from death and the promise of eternal life. Jesus said, "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." (John 6:40)
In short form, we believe that "all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God," (Romans 3:23) and that "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) "God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) We believe "that if you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) And we strive to "not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind. Then [we] will be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:2)
