Our Mission:
Give Back- It is the number one reason why we hold the Stampede. It is the combination of the effort from all our volunteers and the Board, along with the financial support from our sponsors that make the Stampede possible. We are proud to give back to our local community and the outlying area by supporting many other non-profit groups, kids groups and causes. As the Santiam Canyon Stampede continues to prosper, so will our community, its residents and the sport of rodeo.Value everyone- We always say that we value our partners and volunteers and try to always take good care of them, because we know we cannot do the Stampede without either of these groups of people. We call our people family because that is how we feel about them; we have built those relationships that way and the rodeo itself.
Be willing to adapt- The Stampede has done that year after year, changing, growing, doing whatever it took to keep the event financially sound and moving forward. We know we have to change to stay viable and current.
Watch costs- The Board has always been budget concusses since the day we took over. We were forced to do this because we had to take out loans to buy the rodeo so we could turn it into a nonprofit organization. That was thirteen years ago (the Stampede is sixteen years old) and we have been watching the bottom line ever since. We are proud to say that in doing so we have paid off those loans and at the same time been able to give back to numerous groups with finical support! We are very proud to have meant that goal.
Lead by example- As Board members we are responsible for all aspects of the rodeo. We do everything from planning to clean up. We do not ask anyone to do anything we would not do ourselves. Over the years this has cultivated a strong and committed work force.
Dare to be different- We keep our core values at the center of every choice we make, but have stepped out in some new and different directions. In doing so we have been leaders to other rodeos in our association.
